Evergreen offers the best of both worlds - a scenic and secluded
mountain retreat, and quick access to the Denver metropolitan area. With
over 300 days of sunshine a year and an altitude of over 7,000 feet
above sea level, smog is virtually unheard of here.
Evergreen is surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful open
space with an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife that includes elk,
deer, fox, hawks, hummingbirds and the occasional bear and moose. The
focal point of the community is the sparkling blue mountain lake that
offers fishing and boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
Though the initial view of Evergreen may appear to be "laid
back", the community supports a variety of cultural organizations,
events, and establishments. Theater groups, a chorale, a chamber
orchestra, and art associations find enthusiastic participation within
the community. Several establishments encourage live musical
entertainment, year-round, with tastes that run from New Age to jazz and
country & Western to rhythm & blues and rock 'n' roll.
Evergreen also offers two golf courses (one public and one
private), a recreational center and miles of trails and parks to provide
hiking, horseback riding, mountain bike riding, sledding and
cross-country skiing for those desiring physical entertainment. Our
community is within a short distance of many of Colorado's outstanding
ski areas and minutes away from historic mining town gambling and all
the entertainment that metro Denver has to offer. |
